Super Sonico is a mascot belonging to game software company Nitroplus, and is part of a media franchise spanning various music products, manga, computer and video games, and an anime television series by White Fox that began airing from January 6, 2014.
Sonico is a fictional character created by Tsuji Santa of Nitroplus. Her debut appearance began on 14 October 2006 as the mascot for Nitroplus' annual live music festival event "Nitro Super Sonico", which took place at Shiba Park in Minato-KU.[1] Nitroplus was initially mainly focused on the creation of visual novel games, however since 2000 have also held their music festival each year.
Sonico is depicted as a moe-type, busty teenage girl with pink-coloured hair, donning her signature headphones. Various different artists choose to depict her in their own specific style, whilst generally keeping her most trademark traits, namely her headphones, hair colour and large bust. She plays the role of a gravure idol, musician and college student, is canonically 18 years of age, and is the vocalist and guitarist of the fictional band First Cosmic Velocity (第一宇宙速度 Daiichi Uchū Sokudo?);[2] the other members of the band are bassist Suzu Fujimi (富士見 鈴?) and drummer Fuuri Watanuki (綿抜フウリ?), both characters originally from Axanael, a 2010 eroge by Nitroplus.
Sonico is voiced by Ayano Yamamoto[citation needed] within the games and the 2014 television anime but credited as Super Sonico.
